The South China Morning Post whose moribund website is behind a paywall has a new section.

Subtitled Your Passport to the Beijing Olympics, it's all about the Games and is all accessible without a subscription.

Thanks Jeremy. "Moribund" is the word. They spent a million HKD on the website, I heard. And supposedly their readers are all high-income sophisticated English speaking professionals, who do not mind paying $50 per year for online subscription.
