Police special forces in Beijing and Athens

BDM1216S.jpg

Coincidentally, police special forces from both Beijing and Athens got quite a lot of media coverage today, in two different news stories. The photo on the front page of today's Beijing Daily Messenger shows Beijing's police special forces officers conducting a training maneuver and showing their proficiency at shooting, driving and coordinated operations. This was the first time they have invited the press to view their maneuvers.

For the police special forces in Athens, it wasn't training. This photo from Xinhua shows Greek special police forces walking towards a hijacked bus on a street some 30 kilometres north of Athens after the surrender of two Albanian bus hijackers who unsuccesfully demanded a ransom of a million US dollars and a flight to Russia.
