Time Out picks two sets of Beijing heroes

Time Out Beijing
(Chinese edition)

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Time Out magazine, the Beijing edition has joined local editions of the listings magazine around the world in choosing a list of forty "heroes" of the city.

Or rather, two lists, because Time Out Beijing comes in both an English and a Chinese edition. Although the lists overlap somewhat (ten of the heroes appear on both lists), there are some notable differences:

· Scope: While both lists include heroes from the worlds of modern art, music, theater, film, and the printed page, the Chinese list also contains some big names from sports and business, and the English list includes expatriate residents of Beijing.

· Age: The youngest person on the Chinese list is Zhang Ziyi, born in 1979. The English list features two "post-80s" names (Xander Zhou and Li Yuchun), and one selection that's even more recent (the cartoon Olympic mascots known as Fuwas).

· Preference: Any list of this sort is going to be arbitrary to some degree, but having two competing lists makes it all the more obvious. For fifth-generation directors, for example, the English edition has Chen Kaige; the Chinese, Zhang Yimou. For architects, English: Ma Yansong; Chinese: Cui Kai. For novelists, English: Yan Lianke, Xinran, Ma Jian, and Jiang Rong; Chinese: Wang Shuo, Ah Cheng, and Hai Yan.

The English list also seems to have a few ringers put there for the express purpose of provoking controversy (see if you can spot them). Chinese Time Out ran a concurrent online poll (linked below) where netizens could vote for their favorite "Beijing Heroes." Hutong artist Kuang Han, Olympic Committee honorary president He Zhenliang, and TV classics lecturer Yu Dan beat out all the magazine's picks, and Sohu CEO Charles Zhang (Zhang Chaoyang) also made the top eight, along with list members Wang Shuo, Li Ning, Xu Tao, and Ge You.

The English edition's list identifies each of the names for the benefit of readers who might not know who they are (bolded names are on both lists):

Comments on Time Out picks two sets of Beijing heroes

LI YUCHUN is a sunny lovely girl. She is a great singer indeed. She is young but she have endless energy.

Li Yu Chun is really a remarkable person born in 1980s,she is kind, generous and warm-hearted in helping people in need.

LI YUCHUN is pure, pure-hearted and virtuous girl, she loves music very much, and now she is a great singer indeed, her fans have a common warm name "yumi".

Li Yuchun distinguishes herself with her wonderful voice and marvellous stage performance. She is unique and special. No wonder she has been selected as one of the top 40 heroes.

李宇春,漂亮

Li Yuchun ,I like...

LI YUCHUN IS PERFECT
I LOVE HER

Li Yu Chun is a very gentle, kind and generous and unique person who can represent the strength of model China's youth. She is too advanced for her country's mainly male who strangely still does not embrace equality of both sexes. Chris Lee is fantastic and hope that she will remain so.

Robin Li 杨彦宏, IT (Baidu)??
Big error, it's 李彦宏。

[Thanks, although I'd call it a minor typo: 'sb' vs. 'sn' --JM]

Call me crazy, but I have a funny feeling that Li Yuchun is posting for herself. That's the longest string of positivity about her that I've ever seen

As for my controversy ringer nominations: Ma Jun, Li Yinhe and Wang Canfa. Those are the obvious ones at least. Anybody want to comment on some of the less obvious ones?

I would say the controversial ones are Dashan and Yang Rui from CCTV. Any praise of Dashan is guaranteed to get a rise out of zhongguo tongs.

Also, not sure about Xinran. I've met her and she seems like a nice woman, but i can't stand her writing. Every two paragraphs she has "tears rolling down her cheeks" etc. Very mawkish.

Why would Wang Canfa be a ringer?

Li Yuchun, a good kid, worthy of our love.

Yang effing Rui! A Chinese hero (presumably to laowai as he is not on Chinese list. I am outraged!! (oh, I see what Time Out have done there)

and Li Yuchun is indeed yummy. and has her own personal 50 cent army. tremendous!

I agree with all but Mr 27: CCTV presenter Yang Rui 杨瑞.
Has Timeout's list compiler ever seen Dialogue? I doubt it. Each episode begins by describing itself as "not just Q&A, but highly interactive". Anyone who has tuned in will know that at the VERY MOST Dialogue could be considered Q&A. Yang barely conceals his excitement that he is using such clever words and following a guest's answer he asks a totally unconnected question - this makes it quite clear that he hasn't understood, or worse still, hasn't even listened to the speaker.

Jeff, don't get supprised. Li has a strong internet-based fan circle. She has a lot of supporters who are connecting with each other closely through internet. I bet some of her fans distribute this article among her supporters. So, they all come. It is the power of E-network or E-community, a topic that I am studying now.

I would second the Dashan choice as a ringer. Also, if its "Beijing heroes", why the hell is Li Yuchun, who is from Sichuan (and queer) on there?

Yang Rui's disconnected questions prompted me to suppose Dialogue was heavily edited, then I came to understand he was just hopelessly inept, further encumbered by his stubborn insistence in using vocabulary unsuited to the course of the conversation. Also, Yang Rui seldom fails to fault America on any topic, no matter how much the stretch.

One of my favourites was Yang Rui interviewing a visiting US educator and proclaiming that one out of five Americans worked for or reported to the FBI. When the poor man being interviewed politely expressed his doubts about that Yang Rui said, "I'm sorry, but you are too naive".

why did danwei have to delete my comment???

I say again:

Li Yuchun is a bitch, and fuck those who are offended.

[EDITOR'S NOTE:

Peter: We'll let this past because you are a regular commenter and do have interesting things to say, but we do not normally publish this type of thing. If you explained why she is a bitch, it may have been interesting, but just using foul language to curse Li Yuchun is more suitable for high school toilet walls than the Danwei comments section. --JG]

peking order - as others have said above, I think yang rui's inclusion is a piss take. time out well know how he is viewed by any laowai that has evered had the misfortune to tune into Dialogue. Same for Dashan.

May I say though that I have met both in (slightly)informal contexts and both were very charming individuals. although yang was slightly bitter about the time he spent studying in wales.

I guess they both really should give up the day job

Li Yuchun is a pure sunny lovely chinese girl and was born in 1984,she is a nice singer with a warm-natural voice, her marvellous stage performance is unique and special, she is very kind, generous and warm-hearted in helping people in need, her fans named "yumi" love her just like their family members.

Well said, JG. This is exactly one of the other interesting issues related to Li Yuchun. I think Li's unique and non-traditional appearance and characteristics make her a normal target.
As I said I am studying Chinese E-network right now. I find it is quite frustrating to see that internet does not really help Chinese to communicate better. If you go to any mainstream websites, you would find that the comment sections are like high school restrooms that are either being trashed or cleaned after being trashed.

where did all these li yuchun fans come from?

Peteryang :your mother and sister maybe also Li Yuchun`s fans,so,go back home and fu*k your mother and your sister!
You are shit! Sorry, I shouldn`t defiled shit.

Chris Lee NO.1!!!!
love you mua~~~~~~~~

I love you ,Chris,forever!

She is a super girl.
She is a builtful girl, too.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 23, 2008 10:12 PM
-------------------------------------
most of them come from China, others from abroad,in fact, her fans in everywhere all of the world.

Chris lee (li yu chun)is kind and bueatiful chnise girl !

I think there must be more and more people love her!

Chris Lee is very wonderfol, her voice is very special!Hope, more and more people(espciaily foreigner) will like she!Soon, you will know, she is really good!

Supergirl winner Li Yuchun 李宇春

a cool yong and lovely girl!

come on, baby !

It's very interesting that therre are always too much dispute, or wemay say, different opinions about Li Yu Chun, a 24-year old young girl. Why it's always her but not others? It's really a question. I don't know how much do they know about her, about the activities she's been attended or the words she said, or her attitude towards your misunderstanding? Have you ever thought about the day when you are as young as her? Can you be brave enough tosay you were better than her in every aspect? or only sevral aspects? It's no use to curse a pure-hearted young girl who is always trying to do her best to do everything well, not only for her own job but also public charities.

LI YUCHUN is a sunny lovely girl. She is a great singer indeed. She is young but she have endless energy.

love you chris lee,you are best.

in my heart, chris lee (liyuchun)is the best singer.

As a singer, she's got excellent achivement in the past 3 years, with 3 records and more than 10 separate songs. Especially her new mini album named "Youth of China" which has been a very shining mark among the music records in 2008.
In helping the others who are in need of school, hospital, and expenses for defending diseases, she is always very kind and generous, a Love foundation set up her fans in March of 2006 has collected more than 500 yuan till now. The monsy will be used in building Hope primary school, village hospital and used for sick children.

===========

I really like your comment style-- "that are either being trashed or cleaned after being trashed."--absolutely right.

They use foul language to curse anyone they don't like. They seemed uneducated and illiberal even though they can type English. Maybe this is a result of deficient humanities education in China.

Li YuChun is a marker girl. We must admit her huge influence, especially in Chinese girls, as she represents an all-new fresh style they never see. We must admit her huge influence as people begin to realize they can make and support their own idol.

Everytime I see chris lee(li yuchun),I feel very happy .And because of her,I know that we should try our best to help the person in need.I am a Chinese student, and I can't type much Enlish, but I want to express my love to her.

super girl LiYuchun,good

Chris Lee (Li Yuchun)is an angel in my eyes. She sings like an angel, looks like an angel and she has a heart of an angel. I love her voice and everything about her.

She's good, right? If you dont't agree, please just list your evidence abut not only dirty curse.

She is so popular, there're must some reason behind the powerful support, do you think so?

I appeciate her not only because her songs but also her charming charateristics, and also, her beauty, outlooking and her beautiful heart.

chris Lee(Liyuchun) is a good singer and a beautiful girl .Wish good luck to her .

I like Li YuChun very much.Because I think that she is beautiful,clever,pure,sunny,simple,honest,warm-hearted,lovely,vivid and so on.......
I think she is the best!!!!! I love her forever~~~~~~~
Chris Lee, you are my only love~~~~ ^_^

Chrislee is a wonderful girl,I'm glad that I meet with her in 2005 during my life, she influences me so much that I feel happy and thus get positive to life。In a word,I am greatful for konwing her。
Pretty girl, wish you a happy life!

She's very natural, very lovely and very charming!

Please try to know something about her before you curse her. You should know it's no use to splash dirty water on a shining star but only make yourself ugly in heart.

In Yumi's eyes, she's a real angel with pure and crystal heart and mind.

Li Yuchun is one of the singers that is so special and different than the others in the Asian entertainment world right now. Her unique looks (fresh, cool, calm, shy, polite, quite but very confident on stage), along with her talented, compassionate heart and energy had captured millions millions of people heart in China and around the world that willing to stay by her side and support her forever without any requests.

I had never met a girl like her.I like her splendid smile, kindhearted soul, white chean skin, cool dances, wonderful songs and her Pices character as many many other people called "YuMi".When she faced the affairs which were harm to her,she just smiled and said"It dosen't matter. That isn't me." She is so simple a girl that we can't help worrying about her. However, she demonstrated to everyone that she is a cautious and willful girl.Of course, she is clever. We don't care that there are still few people who misunderstand her although we feel very upset. We just want they can respect her and her efforts. If you can try to understand her,you will found she is really a good and impeccable girl.I believed that you will accept her at the end.Let me tell you her name:Li Yuchun!

to peter.
have u a generous heart like chris lee?
have u ever done any charity with pure heart?
but i think u are not good person who can does like that. u are a person with high jealousy to other people's popularity. so, just shup up.your voice are not important than crying dog.
--------...----------------------------------
although i can't speak chinese and also not from china but i'll always support chun-chun,love chun-chun,love her music, love her character and personality. chun-chun 加油。

Peter: We'll let this past because you are a regular commenter and do have interesting things to say...

---
This is pure thrash and I am surprised with the editor's comment that FOUL PETER has interesting things to say???

What is interesting?? FOUL LANGUAGE????

This is where things go wrong!!

When someone, who surposedly is a regular and maybe popular commentator goes so low, he gets famous. Peter, everything you published can be viewed by the world, this is the internet. I dare you to put your real face to your comment and show the world who you really are. If you are not prepared to do this, be responsible when commenting on the net and write sensibly. Dont put big foul words, think about your children and the world you will leave to them ..... Go Green on the net .....

Peter Yang. Guest you repsent the weak male of China who has very little to show except foul language, over and over again. Absolutely no sense and no taste. You need to consult a Psychaitrist urgently as there is something very wrong with you. Mabye, you need to learn proper English before you do anymore thrash.

Unlike Li Yu Chun, who has achieved so much and is so outstanding in so many ways and have impressed so many outside her country, including me.

Li Yuchun is a good girl. She is awesome.

Li Yuchun is charming.

Well, I don't know what are the fans of Li Yu Chun like, like I don't know what kind of person of Li Yu Chun is. But from her anti-fans' behavior, like hysterical Peter Yang, I guess Li Yu Chun must be good.

Thank you all!!!!!!!11

and i dunt give a muffin if i hurt your feeling.

please stay offended.

thanks again!!!

peace

Good taste to put Li Yuchun (Chris Lee) on ur namelist!

You're all wrong with the figures. Li Yuchun has more than 100 songs and the charity foundation set up by her fans has collected more than 5 million yuan already.

Li Yuchun is a mild person, and she is working on her music career and has achieved a lot. She once explained her thinking towards certain conflicts among public figures, "I would try to express myself without offending others."

Lili,
I hope you're taking notes. This is fascinating, in a "watching a train wreck" kind of way.

And the fact that it's all happening on Danwei, the deconstructionists will have a field day...

some "local" people listen up, I came from a fansblog linkage.

IF SOME trach can come here to insult LYC

HER fans also have the rights to defense here.

Incase large amount of supports for lyc makes you dizzy just ignore her,its so easy!PLZ dont be double-standard to show your malignancy.

For me those who said "liyuchun I like" is such a cutie.

and XXX sonofbitch you diserved this title

I like Li yuchun. She is a prety girl, she is kind of every people, she sings and dances very well.I'm sure that she will be a super star.

Li Yu Chun is really a remarkable person born in 1980s,she is kind, generous and warm-hearted in helping people in need.
I like her.

Chris Lee is a unique girl and she is always faced many controversial comments as I think this is cause she is a new style that has never seen in China before.Actually, like these "idol selecting" thing is so popular in west county .I believe she will be accepted by more and more people.

Okay, we're already convinced, Li Yuchun should replace Yang Rui on Dialogue.

well done, Li Yuchun
you are one of the best singers in China, and in the world
you are so talented, and just keep your dream always alive, it will encourage me too.
thank you so much!!

Chris is a wonderful singer! Her voice is beautiful! And she is beautiful!

(to the editor:pls ban him from this,we[li yu chun fans] took enough from him & pls delete his comments.thx.hope u understand.)

Li Yuchun, I like her very much. She is very charmful~~~~~~~~~``

Okay, we're already convinced, Li Yuchun should replace Yang Rui on Dialogue.

Scott, I get your humor here.

The ironic thing is that the Central Publicity Department of Chinese Communist Party does not like her that much. For a long time, she had been censored out of the CCTV. For a government focusing on society harmoney and stability, an idol, who can stimulate strong dispute and encourge supports to vote, is not quite welcomed.

I think this is the major reason that she is not selected for the Chinese list.

Lili,
I hope you're taking notes. This is fascinating, in a "watching a train wreck" kind of way.

:) Thank you, Jeff. Actually, I have seen this kind of wrecks many times. The worst time was Li's haters attached her fans' Baidu Post (BBS or public forum), using program generated curse comments. The auto-comments could reach 60-100 pieces per minute. Her supporters learned to use the same strategy to defend. Eventually, they drove Baidu servers, the biggest internet engine in China, to collapse for a few days.

But, wreck in English, Danwai is the first time for me.

Li Yuchun distinguishes herself with her wonderful voice and marvellous stage performance. She is unique and special. No wonder she has been selected as one of the top 40 heroes.

Good taste to put Li Yuchun (Chris Lee) on ur namelist!

:) Sure, go ahead.

Gosh, it looks like I came too late. Li Yuchun's fans have already said it all. I happen to be a pretty devoted overseas (Chinese-American) fan of hers as well.

Anyways, gotta put in my two cents:

1) In regards to those intolerant imbeciles like Peter and CBDrama (but mostly Peter) calling Li Yuchun a "b*tch" and "queer" respectively, I'd like to express my extreme disappointment. How can you discriminate against someone whom you do not understand and who has never provoked you? This type of hatred is starting to echo Nazism. I really do feel sorry for the two of you, because you show how cruel the human race can be, especially to someone who is so transcendantly beautiful on both the inside & outside as Li Yuchun is.

2) To Danwei, I respect and enjoy your material quite a bit (also enjoy SexyBeijing). I understand that you would choose to be a bit lenient towards Peter if he is a frequent commenter, but I think that him choosing to make that comment in such a public manner is so irresponsible and degrading towards our beloved LYC. I'm all for freedom of speech (grew up in the U.S. after all), but could you please impose some sort of restriction or at least a strong warning on Peter? His disrespect for others should not go unnoticed.

3) For the observers/bystanders like Lili and Jeff, I have to say that this "train wreck" is just as amusing and interesting to watch for me as it obviously is for you (except I'm participating too). Phenomenons like these have a such a noticeable impact in shaping a particular culture, it would almost be wrong to ignore it (...unless you're a hermit).

4) Should I contribute another string of positive (and somewhat redundant) adjectives to this comment list?
Just want to say one more thing (the 2 cents has already become more like 20 bucks):
Li Yuchun is only one year my senior, yet she has done so many inspiring things in her life, and has already reached her ultimate goal to become a singer (and though she may not have started out as a superb one, her rate of improvement over the past 3 yrs has been astonishing). I am truly honored to have her be my idol.

Chris lee yu chun was a great singer, she have a very unique sound that seldom to be seen.
No matter how difficult, she will continue and continue and never give up of her performance.
This is a very good attitude that can be learn by everyone. Nothing else can say about her.
Only good, good, good, good,good!!!

As all the yumi said
chun chun,
We will support you no matter what happen!!!
Just going on and on

I am not sure who LI YU CHUN (LYC) is and I don't care but Peter Yang I know is a "private citizen". Therefore you are slandering him by your attacks. He is protected in what he says about her unless it is malicious---which it may or may not be. I think he was just trying to be funny.

Since Li Yu Chun is a "public figure" in most areas of the world she is allowed to be criticized, called names, belittled, or parodied.

Peter Yang whether we agree with his choice of words should be able to say what he wants to say.

Danwei should not censor his words and they clearly did not. When he commented again they added a disclaimer which explained Danwei's position which I have found personally to be most of the time, and in this case, quite fair.

Danwei should not impose any restriction as "stilapixie" suggests because then your mob of Li Yu Chun supporters will win even more unfairly than you already have with your obvious strength in numbers. That's the only way people in this part of the world fight? 100 vs. 1? That's 100 wusses by my count.

Like I said before, I don't know who Li Yu Chun is and I frankly don't care. These polls are always conducted by big industry jerks promoting their own causes and the causes of those of whom they are in bed with at the time. These polls are meaningless. Sure she is popular but she is a product of an industry and not pure raw talent. There are probably thousands of people more gifted in singing than her who are sweating their asses off making Nikes, cleaning toilets, or steaming jiaozi.

What I don't like---forget his choice of words---is that you are all attacking Peter Yang.

If you want a fight I am his Bao Biao. BRING IT!!!!!

Instead of fighting Peter Yang or regular people like us who say stupid things about famous people because we are jealous of their luck---and most of it is a credit to luck---why not fight for regular people and not against them.

Li Yu Chun is rich and successful and I highly doubt that anything Peter Yang says will affect her to hard. If it does than should could probably pay someone to flick a boogie at him as you commenters are clearly also on her giant payroll.

I tried to give a sh1t, but failed.
she is a bitch.

To Peter's bao biao,

Wow, okay, I think you should calm down. You seem to be taking things a bit too seriously, though if you are his "bao biao", then that's understandable.

Per the Danwei comment rules ("if you are looking for a fight, there are plenty of other venues available online"), I'll just respond with a few points, and that'll be the END of my commenting here:

No one is **fighting** anybody. I merely expressed my opinion, in a polite and civil manner, about Peter's words. I did not directly attack Peter as a person. And why should I? To me, he is just another faceless netizen, just like you and I. You may argue that I made certain implications with my comment, which I will not deny, but neither you nor Peter have to take me seriously.

In my opinion, calling someone a "b*tch" is being malicious, especially if that person is a stranger. Besides, I only made a **suggestion** to Danwei about the whole restriction thing. They don't have to listen to me at all, and I expect them to have other more important things to do. Just for the record, I think Danwei has been pretty fair. I was just pushing for a little extra, since I view Danwei readers as having a certain level of tact and respect for others (especially regulars like Peter). Eh.

As for Li Yuchun, we are her FANS, so we naturally support her. In the majority of cases, we are not actively attacking LYC bashers when we defend her (at least I don't ever intend to). It is a testament to her character & appeal that Li Yuchun has so many fans who love and respect her in the first place. We are not her "army" and certainly are not being paid or bribed to support her, so please do not attack us by calling us "wusses".

Besides, why would you pick a fight with a group of adolescent fans who are mostly girls (myself included)???

And FYI, your comment ("That's the only way people in this part of the world fight?") does not apply to me. If you had read my previous comment carefully, you'd have realized that I am from the U.S. Also, I'm not going to even begin responding to your oh-so-politically charged comment. If you are in China right now, I suggest you be careful of what you say/type.

And finally, "why not fight for regular people"? Because not all regular people are good folk deep down. Some of the hurtful and unfounded words in Peter's and your comments have made it that much HARDER to have faith in the average Joe, even if you are good to the core. I'd easily fight for people who are at a disadvantage of some sort, but "regular" does not equal "disadvantaged". Similarly, "celebrity" does not necessarily equate to "advantaged", and I feel sorry for those who can't see this fact clearly. I believe in each person fighting for themselves and their loved ones, that's it.

Best to all and happy reading,
stilapixie

To the stubborn peter,

Sometimes i couldn't understand what kind of human being are you. Lee Yu Chun have use her famousety to do many charity in helping sick children, and this can show her kindness. How if i ask you have you do any good thing in your life? I can dare to say that you haven't do anything good. If you are not her fans, you have no right to say about her so just shut you bustard mouth off...
I saw that you have ask where the Lee Yu Chun fans come from. So let me help to answer you,
most of her fans come from china and many of the fans are come from all around the world. Even though you can found many of her fans in Malaysia or Singapore.............

"Also, I'm not going to even begin responding to your oh-so-politically charged comment. If you are in China right now, I suggest you be careful of what you say/type."---STILAPIXIE

Is that a threat?

I am where you say I am.

Why should I be careful? Should I be careful because the place you mention wants to harm people for saying or typing something that is fact?

I think Danwei should ban you for posting threats. I also think you shouldn't insinuate that the place I am is concerned about something that little me says. I am not that important.

If you are serious in your threat then get my home address and come take care of me. I will also have my people find out the origin of your comment and copy this threat you made against me should any physical harm come to my person.

It wasn't a political comment. Folks in this part of the globe, in my experience, like to fight many against one. There is never one against one. It's never fair and it's always gang up on one.

Stop ganging up on Peter Yang. Gang up on Peter Yang's Bao Biao if you want.

By reading all the comments from both sides, I have to say "A wolf is a wolf, even when it is surrounded by 100 sheep."

I strongly support Danwei's action. I think JG made it very clear that Danwei is open for different opinnions but not for pure foul language without any arguements.

If Peter can talk about why Li is a b**ch or sh*t, that would be fun to read (at least, I would be interested). If Peter hates Li that much, as I said before, there are many mainstream websites that he can go to trash.

I'm just so dissappointed for peter because Li Yu Chun will never give a damn to what he says!

Oh what a pity.
nobody's paying attention to our little peter.

come on!
be mature and stop being childish!
critising Li Yu Chun doesn't get you anywhere.
unless you are willing to show your face to us YuMi and get into the Book Of Shame!

and again:Li Yu Chun deserves it!
I Love Chris!

to YuMi: let's not bother about this peter guy and go on supporting Chun!
I love you guys too!

Okay, it seems I have write one last comment to clarify what I said previously for those people whose reading comprehension is not up to par.

The quote of mine highlighted by mister "bao biao" was not meant to attack anyone. Actually, there were relatively good intentions behind those words; I was trying to caution, albeit in a sarcastic way, not threaten anyone.

"Should I be careful because the place you mention wants to harm people for saying or typing something that is fact?" ~bao biao

Ummm, yeah, that's the grim reality of it. I'm not saying every little comment is being monitored, just that it would be prudent to use some tact when expressing yourself over the Internet in China.

Anyways, why does everything have to be about "attacking" for you, mister bao biao??

Physical force is pointless, unclassy, and for insecure bullies. I don't know about you, but I am not a belligerent pre-pubescent boy, nor do I think or act like one. If you want to show your true strength, why not use your brainpower in a debate or argument, rather than trying to provoke a physical brawl? Again, I have no desire to fight with you. I've got better things to do with my time. How about you flaunt your testosterone someplace where it'll be more appreciated?

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to be a good little sheep and offer my wool (i.e. warmth and support) to my idol, Li Yuchun.

Ciao,
stilapixie

Li Yuchun: Talentless, Ugly, And Lame. She is an obvious brain washing agent, the Chinese equivalent of the American-Idol brain washing agent. A freakshow. The bane of 5000 years of glorious Chinese history (never broken and homogeneous to the core. I'm very disappointed, how could she???)

Little Li Yuchun 10 year old girls (we're into Miley Cryus territory now)... Bring it on... I shall destroy each and every one of you with da Force.

And please no talk of banning... Danwei.org is the last bastion of free-speech and democracy in a world on the edge of an abyss. BTW, I don't think it's possible; I've hurled many insults @ the danwei crew (obviously not printed) and look I'm still here. They're a tolerant bunch...

P.S I'm not in league with Peter Yang. He is totally against what I'm about. But in this cosmic struggle against Li Yuchun, the friend of my enemy is undoubtedly a friend of mine. Thus I leave you with the following from Lord Decider:

to Light Lord Of Sith : you are just like our little peter, trying to be immature and childish!

oh come on! get a life!
critizing Li Yu Chun gets you the ching ching???

LiYuChun, your idol: a Talentless, Obsequious, Obnoxious, Lacertilian. A TOOL.

Good bye now. I think I'm going to Force Choke myself out of existence after watching some of her videos (Rejoice humanity, Light Lord Of Sith grants you control of your pathetic little world, via Force Choke of self. Party time???)...

Li Yu Chun is a very gentle, kind and generous and unique person who can represent the strength of model China's youth. She is too advanced for her country's mainly male who strangely still does not embrace equality of both sexes. Chris Lee is fantastic and hope that she will remain so.

I respect the choice of Li Yuchun's fans, but she is not my cup of tea. Anyway, the phenomenon may reflect the phychology of the modern society of China. We need the hero of common people.
