Sharon (饶雪漫) is a prolific author of young adult fiction who shoots low-budget teen soaps based on her novels. The actors in those shows have appeared on the covers of her recent books, including the Sandglass series.

A new set of "teen angst" novels was just released this month by Northern Arts Publishing House. Here's the cover of I Was Never Alone After All (原来我一直都不孤单):

They're not alone after all

It's not just the cover design that recalls Sharon's book: the cover blurb suggests that author Xia Yueran's prose "blows away Sharon's teen angst writing in Sandglass III; within the angst and loneliness, you will find sweetness and pleasure."

Another book in the new series, Goodbye (再见不再见), has a similar cover:

Friends say Goodbye

For good measure, here are the covers of the second and third volumes in the Sandglass series:

Comments on Adventures in teen angst book covers

not that I'm judging a book by its cover or anything... (well, maybe I am) but these books look less like 'teen angst' books and more like young lesbian chick-lit.
