愚人节社报道

Your correspondent is happy to announce that GAPP has acquired 100% of Danwei Ltd. in a cash transaction.

After talks lasting almost two years, the government media regulation agency signed off on the deal in Beijing this morning.

Under the terms of the deal, Danwei's current staff will continue with their current roles, but 2009 will be a period of rapid expansion using investment from GAPP to fund acquisitions and production of new, related websites.

Press enquiries about the deal may be directed to alpaca@danwei.org.

don't you mean grassmudhorse@danwei.org?

What a auspicious day for such and "announcement" ;) Hopefully this will make Danwei more harmonious. As government workers, the staff will also enjoy two-hour lunch breaks.

wow, hard work and obsession pays off! and in a rather unusual way, in terms of a government takeover ...

congratulations ...

Wasn't the whole appeal of Danwei that it was run by independent, free thinking, creative individuals? This doesn't sound like a good thing....

Awesome. I've wanted for this day all my life!

Could you disclose the deal ammount?

Happy April Fool's Day!

yeah, happy sha gua jie ^^

Tim: Two hour lunchbreaks... I'm so grateful to GAPP.

Wolfgang Kubin has voiced his approval.

Congratulations! That must be so exciting for all of you!

I guess that means the link I was going to send about Persian Xiao Zhao being harmonised again won't see the light of day. Happy April Fools' Day.

It's about time Danwei will get harmonized! Now that you are part of GAPP, do you think you could get YouTube and Technorati unblocked? :-) Happy AFD.

hmm imagine confusion as they explained at GAPP board meeting that they had bought Danwei, hmm, shenme Danwei? Danwei, ni mai de shenme danwei? etc..hilarity ensues, xiao Wang gets fired...

You guys suck, I bought this for just long enough to feel like an idiot. I'm not answering the phone or looking at the internet for the rest of the day.

i knew it!

All Spain, country that celebrates Fool's Day on December 28th, sends to you the warmest contratulations.

mmmmm....i'll check this again tomorrow

The papers arrived at my desk yesterday, I signed without hesitation.

I wish to thank Danwei staff for their fantastic work on relaying the Chinese medias to the world, and I trust investers will see a brighter future in the acquisition.

Does this mean Jeremy will have to drop a few gallons of black oil onto his head and comb it over into a perfect helmet head coif, a la 99.99% of Chinese "leaders"????

This is obviously a hoax. The real fact is that CCTV has acquired Danwei as part of its move to create a CNN with Chinese characteristics.

is youtube still blocked?

youtube is blocked like a motherfucker!
