Two China angles on the U.S. elections:

Chinese opinion of Obama
The Mei Zhong blog has a post titled What Chinese think of Obama, part one, a translation of 'A First Analysis of Obama’s China Policy' by Li Zhengxin that was published on the China Times (华夏时报) website.

Presidential candidates' China advisers
Thomas Crampton has posted a list of John McCain and Barack Obama's advisors on China and Asia.

Obama's China advisors include Jeff Bader, Richard Bush, Ken Lieberthal, Mike Lampton, Evan Medeiros, Bob Kapp, Kevin Nealer and Bob Suettinger.

McCain's team includes Randy Scheunemann, Rich Armitage, Peter Rodman, Rick Williamson, Mike Green, Dan Blumenthal and Randy Schriver.

Armitage on team McCain's China detail? Uh oh...

Obama's China list is much better than McCain's. Bob Kapp is a smart pick, as well as Lieberthal and Lampton. I'm impressed! With the permission of Obama's campaign volunteers, I would like to stand in the background wearing my Chinese silk/satin APEC jacket and retro Chairman Mao red star cap.

In recent years, Condoleeza Rice (U.S. Secretary of State) has been the subject of some very nasty racist commentary on Chinese internet chatrooms. If Obama is elected and such patterns continue, how might that figure into things?

Crazier things have happened and Mr. Obama could possibly get elected but its highly implausible. Not because of his pigmentation, but because McCain is better suited for the job.

Nonetheless, I think China has a problem with folks that don't have cadaver-white skin tones. That's an understatement. They have a problem with everyone. What's the deal with that? Simple. It's all insecurities.

Of course, I wish Miss Rice would have run for office. She would have been totally kick ass. No one better than Condi. Hopefully McCain picks her for V.P.
