Comments on Coco Wang's comic strip earthquake storiesoutstanding job FANTASTIC WORK!! Wait.... I don't want to sound insensitive....and the strips are ABSOLUTELY enjoyable and I am tearing all over.... But is this a new way of myth making or truth telling? Are we going to be laughing more or less? Is this a new genre of popular catharsis or of exploitation of the pain of others? BTW, I heard the baby and cell phone message story was fake. Are we so frail that we need to make up stories to feel strong? the story of chen jian is true. you can find his story on youtube -- he was interviewed while still trapped under the slabs of concrete. he died, apparently, of 'crush syndrome'. the he was bleeding internally but the pressure from the slabs kept him from bleeding to death. when the pressure was removed he died. so very heartbreaking. |
