Stabbings in Beijing

From The Shanghai Daily:

Man attacks two foreigners in Beijing

Police are searching for a suspect who stabbed two foreign men and robbed one of them in two separate attacks yesterday afternoon in downtown Beijing.

Doctors said a Russian man was in critical condition after being stabbed four times in the arm and abdomen, Beijing News reported today.

The other victim was a middle-aged American man who suffered minor wounds to his hands, back and legs, the report said.

Both men were being treated in Peking Union Medical Hospital.

Police said the suspect is a young man but didn't reveal his appearance. However witnesses described him as 1.7-meters tall with short hair and wearing a dark coat.

Xinhua has reported on a story mentioned on Danwei two days ago:

Law professor stabbed to death in Beijing classroom

Beijing police confirmed on Wednesday that a university law professor was stabbed to death by a student in a classroom.

Professor Cheng Chunming was murdered Tuesday night at the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL)in the city's Changping District.

A CUPL spokeswoman admitted that the killer was a student from the university's Political Science and Public Management School.

"The student, surnamed Fu, burst into the classroom, where Professor Cheng was about to begin his class, and attacked him," said spokeswoman Liu Changmin.

She said Fu, aged 22, was a forth-year student in the school.

Two other foreigners were attacked around 2:00am Thursday, October 30th around the Sanlitun area. They are of both of German origin.
One of them suffered internal bleeding in his head and is currently in the ICU.
The other one has a broken femur and a cracked skull and is also in the hospital for observation.
We went to the cops to review video yesterday and these portions are mysteriously missing.
If anyone saw anything that night please come forward as its not entirely clear what transpired---only that two of my buddies are in a world of pain and some jerks are responsible.

They both gave short, rousing speeches, and then were reverently interviewed by the emcee, who thanked them profusely for taking time off from their governmental duties to appear on the show.
