Danwei TV: Mainland May Day in Hong Kong

This short episode of Danwei TV features a few interviews with Mainland tourists in Hong Kong last week during the 'golden week' holiday for Workers Day. Most people we spoke to had only positive things to say.

The clip is also available on danwei.tv, where you can also find links to other formats.

For more about Mainland tourism to Hong Kong, see the Hong Kong Tourism Commission's stats page.

jeremy, your laugh is so totally hawt =p

Maybe the photographer is getting less business because mainland tourists are getting smarter and most have cool new digital cameras themselves?

and hong kong is da bomb.

it is bombing. But watch out..... Bomb means a big fake in our dialect.LOL~~~~~~~~~~~

I really enjoy Danwei TV. One quick question: Was that pollution or fog over the city?

Please keep shhoting these episodes.

Kris

Nice. And nice article in newsweek, too.

Fun episode. When did you get the helmet-matching shoes?

And did you find yourself using English or Putonghua more to speak to the locals?

I like DANWEI TV... A lot...

Good Stuff as usual, Jeremy. Do you mind if I ask what equipment you use?

- Andrew: A lot of people speak much better Mandarin than English, but the English level in HK (in shops and restaurants etc.) is still higher than in Mainland cities.
- Matt: We use a variety of DV cameras and Final Cut Pro
- Kris: we were shooting on cloudy days -- it did not look or smell like pollution.

Nice. One question: why the yellow hard hat?

Maybe the photographer guy thought there were less mainland tourists because more and more of them were bringing their own cameras and not going for the 快照 as much. I've noticed in Shanghai those guys seem pretty hard up these days. Not less tourists, just less customers :)

Danwei TV, may I call you DTV? Or is it DWTV? I like it.
