There is absolutely nothing wrong with this picture. But imagine a reversal of roles and locations. Say, Beijing, the CCTV Bldg, foreign students and expats waving their home countries' flags, protesting CCTV's coverage of a story. Just imagine, a round of La Marseillaise on the Third Ring Road.

I am so happy for the Chinese overseas that they can enjoy full freedom of speech! Let them practice, let them feel the joy of living in a country whre the rule of law is law

protests in L.A.?

where did everyone park?

i'm impressed.

you stupid, it seems cctv never slander other nations as thugs and goon, and they never metion amercian product are junk because their questioned beef.

@anonymous:

This is what is wrong with Chinese nationalism, as opposed to rational argument you harp on 3 words said in an editorial, that you would be hard pressed to describe as slanderous. Is China not the goon of the intellectual property world but stealing other peoples hard work and making a profit off of it? Is China not a goon when it kills protesters and refuses to acknowledge it? Is the government not a bunch of thugs when it refuses to do or say anything with its new clout in the world to help reduce/hurt the Khartoum regime which has systematically committed genocide?

And tell me anonymous what would happen if the students were protesting Xinhua for producing such ridiculous propaganda. Do you think the police would protect the protesters? Or would we have another tank incident?

@Riley

You play language tricks.

Ok, let's play.

Isn't westerner thugs that sold China opium by force, and forayed China for fortune and treasure?

You westerner base your civilization by foraying other civilization, pain, chaos and poverty left behind, and now you are righteous noblemen. Congrat, you are no longer monkey.

Someone call Chinese thugs and goons, and call Chinese products junk. Isn't this slanderous? Nobleman, you even have righteous confidence to support the slander.

@Riley

China has many faults in it's foreign and domestic policies. The US and UK have been democratic countries for hundreds of years but it took a long time for the US to abolish slavery and the UK to let women vote. The US and UK have supported regimes that waged war on it's own citizens and have killed millions in the process (Iraq being the most current). To state China is the only country to do business with regimes is hilarious. And it's economic 'clout' isn't used to topple governements it doesn't like and prop a new obedient one in it's place (ie. the US). One last word on 'freedom' and the rule of law: Guantanamo.

Lark: my answer to the questions you pose is yes. yes, westerner is a thug for selling opium by force, etc.

now how about you answer riley's questions: is china a goon for the reasons s/he lists?

@mike

You are funny.

1. Why on earth there are IP things? Isn't IP laws invented first to protect from goons in western world?

2. Yes, it's definitely terrible to kill. If you referred to TAM, it was developed in the direction that much much more people will be killed if not controlled. (And China had no riot police system at that time, and govt. had no experience to handle that situation.) You are very sure that western was without guilty for pouring sneaky oil in to fire? If you referred to the recent event in Tibet, can you give sound proof that protesters get killed in terrible way? Give wikipedia a try, you can have much more information, not the simplified and less meaningful "conclusion".

3. Can super good U.S and European stop "genocide" in the last 50 years? Had? Have? Without resolving fundamental problem, genocide was, is, and will be committed anyway (i.e, U.S. Indian). Isn't so much genocide committed derived from poverty or geopolitic problem left by noble western? Bell the cat, bell the cat.

Actually Sir/Ma'am, haven't you seen the "Big Lebowski". U.S. Indian is not the preferred nomenclature. It's "Native American".

You are so out of your element. So don't pee on our f-ing rug man.

Here are some articles (in Chinese)

Hehe. American, or U.S., is a big topic.
