Haha, that guzheng player is everywhere! I saw that guy in Beihai Park, then again on top of the Fragrant hills a couple of months ago, and then again in this video. He's got 2-3 silver teeth and he does lessons for free. Quite the player but always ready for a photo-op.

is that steel mill still tucked behind the Fragrant Hills belching smoke across the valley, or was it shutdown for the Olympics?

I didn't have a good experience at fragrant hills. . I went during the October national holiday and the shoulder to shoulder crowds (many people with blaring music on their mobile devices) and thick smog made it seem like I was walking down Xidan instead of in a mountain park.

I guess it was just a bad day for pollution because it was too smoggy to see anything from the top and after I got home I found my nose was full of black soot! If you can. .. go to the parks around Miyun instead.. . less crowded and cleaner air. Oh so there is steel mill close by? makes sense.
