Books on China
Xujun Eberlein's Apologies Forthcoming: Hong Kong's Blacksmith Books has published a short story collection by Xujun Eberlein.
Princess Der Ling: Two Years in the Forbidden City: Two years in the Forbidden City is largely a reminiscence of the minutiae of life for one of history's most powerful women, by one of her court attendants, a Manchu noble's daughter by the name of Der Ling.
Carl Crow's The Long Road Back to China: In 1939 Carl Crow - an American journalist, advertising executive and author who had lived in Shanghai for 25 years until forced out by the Japanese - travelled up the Burma Road from Rangoon to Chongqing on assignment for Liberty magazine - 'the most interesting assignment I have ever been given'.

Comments on Chongqing, city on steroids
Chongqing, city on steroids.
这标题是什么意思啊,我看不懂.谁能用汉语解释一下?
我觉得应该是‘重庆:吸类固醇的城市。’就是说,发展及扩大特快,非自然地快。
Chongqing truly is the largest city in the world with a population of 30 million!
meaning getting high out of control, I think.
I wouldn't say this is the first try to take Chongqing under the spotlight. I've also seen the documentary from Paul Merton; one episode is also about Chongqing. But certainly, there are some refreshing perspectives in this one. The anchor Adam actually tried to mingle for real, rather than simply observing. Guess this humbleness comes from his East Asian culture??? Adam seems like a cool dude and he is really hot as well! He reminds me of another Asian American hunk, Yul Kwon...their characters have this charming infusion of sensibilities from both east asian and the west...seems like a bit away from the subject, but he makes the program look good anyway.
wow, this is a really fascinating look at a place i had not been aware of. very interesting characters and places, and the reporter does a great job of leading us through this crazy city. i loved this piece!
flabbergasting. i was repeating "unbelievable" in my head every other second. i hope to make a video diary of my study abroad in China - this video was excellent to give me an idea of the people i should talk to and learn from to truly understand.
重庆,嗑兴奋剂(打激素)的城市。类比运动员使用兴奋剂(类比老外打激素炼肌肉)。
what dose it mean by '' adam smith on steroids''
