Shanghai skyscraper on fire

The Shanghai World Financial Center is a super skyscraper under construction that will top out at 445 meters tall or more and may become the tallest building in the world. There were fires on high and low stories of the building today, captured in photos here, and in the video above.

Crazy place for a fire to happen I'm surprised that the building didn't end up burning down.

I read another article which seemed to focus on the fact that the company involved in construction was Japanese and placed a great emphasis on this...as if the fire and the company's nationality were somehow related...

Have a look at the fotogallery and note that contrary to other fires in highrise buildings all over the world, Shanghai firefighters seemed to have the Schmitz One Seven system to fight against the inferno.
Remember that 3 months ago, the One Seven system has been tested and only the compressed foam from Schmitz was brought up to more than 350 m within less than 2 minutes.
I'm shure, that in this case firefighting with conventional systems would have taken much more time and could have ended in a desaster.
Would like to read comments about my opinion.

Gilles: the local newspapers had a bit about the special firefighting engines used to fight the WFC fires. According to the paper, they are German-built and Shanghai is the only city in China with such high-power hoses. In fact, Shanghai firefighters had conducted training exercises at the WFC in preparation for such a fire, another reason the response was quick and effective.
