Comments on Street scenes in the Sichuan dialectYour sichuan Chinese is very good. i bet he gets all the sichuan girls he desires Takes me back to my time in Ba-Shu. I never pulled the accent off very convincingly but it definitely helped you get understood some places to say, e.g., "haa" instead of a putonghua "xia". LMAO. Nan Ge really sounds like someone originally from Yunnan or Guizhou. I don't understand why Jonathan Kott is going to one of those ubiquitous Lanzhou noodle restaurants for a video about Sichuan dialect on the streets of Chengdu. The Chinese people at Lanzhou La Mian are speaking Mandarin to him and probably not aware that he's even using Sichuan dialect. I spoke fluent trailer trash in the US of A but nobody done gone put me on TV. He speaks Sichuan well because that's how he learned the entire language and is the accent he learned from the beginning. Only in China can a dorky ass whiteboy who probably couldn't get laid to save his life in his home country go on TV and become a celebrity. to James, aidsmonkey, and people of their ilk: please, at least try to mask the projection of your frustrations onto others. it's a bit pitiful to watch. besides, he's a comedian! and they're not usually tall, strikingly handsome jocks. i don't know if he writes his own material, but sometimes it's quite funny - in a cheezy way - and he's got good comedic timing. 南仔说四川话很棒~:D Aidsmonkey, have you considered Springer? No offense, but "fluent trailer trash" and TV time just bring out Jerry Springer for me, and I just have to comment. |
