Comments on The man on the street and inflation
The government tried to use this way to encourage more ppl to go back to the farmland to grow crops, because in china, nowdays,we imported too much grains and rice from abroad.
Good work, Mia!
Nice little clip. I think the inflation in China is not getting enough attention in the local and international media. They report about it, but I don't think people understand what a big problem this can turn out to be.
The price controls introduced by the Chinese government shows they are desperate, since these kind of moves normally cause damage to the economy and reduces supply over the medium and long term.
Perhaps they are just using this as a temporary measure until the Olympics, with the hope that the economy will cool a little in 2009. But, with food prices (as opposed to Real Estate, Fuel) being the main drivers of inflation in the last few months, the situation ain't looking too good.
sexy beijing? isn't this the hard hat show?
Mia Lee is cool!
Great clip Mia.
Strange that the government quoted inflation rate is just 6.9%!
It's about time we talk about this! It's the number one topic in commen people's life.
great video and great choice of topic. i've been following developments on inflation and food prices on the south china morning post. their articles are good, but it was nice to hear what common people have to say from their own point of view. is the government trying to send people back to the countryside to work in the fields? maybe... really bad way to do that though...
by the way, i always watch your videos and i think you guys are doing a great job. i'm not sure about having the hardhat show under the sexy beijing umbrella, though... aren't they two totally different concepts?
