Comments on Why Tom Doctoroff is wrong about China

Paul French & Tom Doctoroff are two sides of the same western-minted coin that's been circulating through China since the late-Qing: the former, a dyed-in-the-wool China-basher; and the latter, a shameless huckster/shill for crony-capitalism.

First why would anyone in their right mind take credit for Buick at all?

If it were Cadillac, then I could see arguing about it.

"For anyone to assume that “everything” has been seen before discredits that extraordinary genius of the Chinese people and their ability to adapt to an evolving world without sacrificing their enduring cultural orientation."---Tom Doctoroff

Without sacrificing culture? What culture? Nothing is preserved---short of 1000 year old eggs---in that country.

"It also denigrates the efforts of, yes, expatriate businessmen who, while far from perfect and certainly not always noble, have done their part to make China a more dynamic place as the 21st century unfolds."---Tom Doctoroff

Do any any expat businessmen care if they are denigrated? Hell no. We are all laughing our ass off all the way to the bank. Denigrate the sh*t out of us. There is no bottom line in integrity. If integrity had a monetary value we would sell that too.

Why don't they all just admit it. The business and this argument is all based on money, money, money.

Both of you shut up, BUT first tell us its for the money and we will buy your books and have some entertainment reading them.

Nyah nyah nyah, I know you are but what am I ...

Seriously - who cares?

Only surprising thing here is Doctor Off calling unnecessary attention to himself. Doesn't that breach the Sacred Code of the Adman?
