The top headline of today's Beijing Times announces that the Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau will give 230,000 low-income citizens 20 yuan per month starting next month. The temporary subsidy, a reaction to climbing inflation, will last five months.

20 kuai a month...I sure hope that there aren't any "er nai" out there who will be losing their taxi allowance. It would be a definate human rights violation seeing them take the bus to meet sugar daddy "dang yuan" at some 90 RMB a cup coffee shop.
