Grandpa Hu goes to schoolPosted by Eric Mu, June 1, 2009 4:31 PM
Today is International Children's Day. In anticipation of the holiday, President Hu Jintao visited two primary schools in Beijing yesterday. At Jushan Primary, where the majority of the students body are made up by the children of migrant workers, the president attended a Chinese class and lectured pupils about the meaning of the Chinese proverb , "when you drink from the stream, remember the source." Hu elaborated: "When we drink water, we should think about where the water comes from. And similarly, when we are happy, we should think about where our happiness comes from. We have such a good place to study, so we should keep in mind where a good learning environment comes from..." At Fangcaodi International School, which has over 700 overseas students including sons and daughters of expatriates and diplomats, the president told the children that they are the hope of world's future, and expressed his hope that they will make society "more harmonious." CCTV's Network News Broadcast followed the president in his visits: In a follow-up story, the paper reported that police in Enshi, Hubei Province, announced that their investigation into the Deng Yujiao murder case has concluded. On May 10, Deng, an employee of a local leisure center, stabbed two government officials who demanded sex from her. One official died. According to the police, Deng acted in self-defense but will be charged with using excessive force. Links and Sources

Comments on Grandpa Hu goes to school
I was surprised he didn't mention patriotism and craps.
what makes the children different..
"Excessive force"? Three men against one woman? It is shameful for police and for official. How 50kg heavy woman can use "excessive force" against three men.? Did she used machine gun or bomb?
well, she did have knife. In legal online discussions, they keep citing a precedent of robbery defense earlier this year. (some fruit farmer get robbed at knife point by gangsters. He took the knife from the robber and get into a fight with one of them, and stabs one gangster to death. The court dismissed murder changes due to self-defense, but the self-defense used excessive force and the farmer got 5 years in prison.) The defense lawyer for Deng Yujiao argues, because it is one woman vs 3 men with possibility of rape. The defense is appropriate rather than "Excessive force". Because when she fights back without lethal force, the other two could overpower her. (rather than ran away like the fruit farmer case) The trial would be interesting, hope the news will follow this story. Also, it is grandpa Wen, not grandpa Hu, Hu is usually referred to as brother Hu. (Hu he)
The article's written in a strange mix of official-speak and kid-talk. Hu Jintao is introduced in the first paragraph with all of his official titles, but later throughout the article he is called 胡爷爷, Grandpa Hu.
when did he receive the grandparent certificate. If he want to be called that, he better stop dye his hard and starts to grow a beard
