An iceberg theater for China's ice capitalPosted by Banyue, November 8, 2007 6:17 PM
The Heilongjiang Morning Post, founded in 1992, calls itself "the first Morning Post since the founding of People's Republic." It is read by the people of Harbin and Daqing in Heilongjiang Province. Today's top headline concerns Harbin's new "iceberg" theater. This building was designed by Rui Leão & Carlota Bruni and is financed by a 700 million yuan investment from the Poly Group and Stanley Ho's company. It is targeted for completion in 2010. There's a report here, in Portuguese. Other headlines: · The oil pipeline between Russia and China will be completed and go into operation next year; · Hangzhou tops the rankings of most pleasant cities to live in; · A survey of Harbin residents reveals that worst violation of the law is thought to be the manufacture and sale of fake goods; · And at the bottom: "The vice-chair of a county-level political consultative conference raped 36 young women in an effort to prolong his life and advance his career."
