Comments on CNN apology not acceptedNote to editors regarding "CNN [sic] apology not accepted": this is old news; AND "Japan" is properly spelled "J-A-P-A-N" not "C-N-N". sheesh. Jeff Cafferty is not a host of any show. As a matter of fact, he doesn't have his own show at all. He is a commentator who have about 10 minute of TV time a day to read some emails. Apparently, being totalitarian freaks in their own country is good enough for them; now the Chinese and their totalitarian government want to spread their supression of free speech to the rest of the world. CNN should tell them to take their demand for an apology and shove it where the sun don't shine. If CNN caves, the Chinese will be pulling the race card every time they don't like what they watch on CNN. Damn, I'm tired of this nonsense. Jack Cafferty does not have his own show ("The Cafferty File" is an interactive feature within Wolf Blitzer's "The Situation Room") , but CNN's Lou Dobbs does have his and nobody seems to mind that he always refers to the Middle Kingdom as "Communist China" Lou Dobbs is a fool. So is Bill O'Reilly. Why would the Chinese Communist Party be offended by Lou Dobbs calling China "communist"? Boycott CNN! Boycott Carrefouur! Boycott Danwei! Boycott Sal's Famous Pizzeria! Because "Communist China" is an old political term which implies that there are two Chinas (the other one being "Free China" which is a term popularized by the Republic of China government on Taiwan). It's similar to the term "Red China", which was popular in American media during the 60's and early 70's. I am not aware of any other news media in America that continues to use the term "Communist China", so I believe it's exclusively a favorite of good old Lou Dobbs. I cannot be more happier to see people are responding to this! CNN does always refer China as "Comm" or "Red", not only Lou Dobbs, but CNN in general - CNN needs to update its time, knowledge, anchors and name callings, at least be creative or something new. It is so old and boring. CNN wake up!! Don't put on a show about China before your staff do their research. I am not offended by CNN calling "comm" China, I am offended because they don't know what kind of word they can use to define China; I am offended because they imply "Comm" is no good. I ask myself why can't they just call China CHINA? Simple. "I am not offended by CNN calling "comm" China, I am offended because they don't know what kind of word they can use to define China; I am offended because they imply "Comm" is no good. I ask myself why can't they just call China CHINA? Simple."---ABC Until China allows foreign media to freely broadcast in China then they have no right to require that we refer to China in any such way. It is standard practice for cable news entities to make standard how the refer to the war, how they classify countries, and even how they spell Osama Bin Laden's name (Fox and CNN spell it differently...ones says, "Osama", one says, "Usama"). It's all semantics. Why can't everyone just call China CHINA? Well because then we would be confused with dishware...DUH!!!!!!! In addition, implying that communism is no good as you say CNN and the like do is spot on...it is NO good. "Why can't everyone just call China CHINA? Well because then we would be confused with dishware...DUH!!!!!!! In addition, implying that communism is no good as you say CNN and the like do is spot on...it is NO good." ---SGT. SLAUGHTER Do we have a name for someone who cannot separate a Country from Dishware? I don't think it is called DUH, I think it is called DUUUMB. According to whose standard? Definitely not Chinese standard. There are lots of no goods in this world according to one standard, and we have already known what that had led us throughout history. I don't think China has any problem with what we refer to China. There is no complain about being referred as RED and Communist. My point is that it is boring and pointless to add these words to express, I don't know what. It is like China will refer to US always as "The Imperial United States of America", which is a very old term in China. But guess what China stopped, they progress, so should we. Regarding free press in China, China will progress till China can afford free press. We need to allow a country or a people go through their course with their speed, not ours. Do you think that press is REAL FREE in this country? We have our own limitations, no doubt, it is better than China. There are three things that point to the fact that "Anonymous" is NOT American, or British as they claim to be by saying, "ours", or "us" etc. etc. First: Thanks for sensing the sarcasm in my reply. Any real American and definitely someone from the UK would know I was kidding with that dish-ware comment...you didn't think I was being serious did you? Be serious. Second: I've never been one to care for grammar and be a grammar Nazi but your grammar is atrocious and spelling suspect by using words like "till" in place of "until". Or maybe you were held back a couple of grades. Third: You use the name "Anonymous". Why? Are you trying to impersonate an American in an attempt to make your statement credible? Any mentioning of NAZIS in any context automatically invokes Godwin's law... Therefore, this post is OVER.
SGT. SLAUGHTER: Just a clarification: the name "Anonymous" is automatically inserted whenever a commenter leaves the username field blank. Also, it's not really constructive to try and guess at commenters' backgrounds based solely on a few hundred words. What does it matter, anyway? There are three things that point to the fact that "Anonymous" is NOT American... - Posted by: SGT. SLAUGHTER | April 25, 2008 10:27 AM • Pardon my grammar. "SGT. SLAUGHTER: Just a clarification: the name "Anonymous" is automatically inserted whenever a commenter leaves the username field blank. Also, it's not really constructive to try and guess at commenters' backgrounds based solely on a few hundred words. What does it matter, anyway?"---Joel Martinsen. Thanks for the clarification. It is not constructive to use one's background ever as rationale for an argument's validity as many people on this site do. It is always immaterial and I was arguing against that fact. Besides that, no arguments on this site are constructive O' Mr. Moderator. The whole idea of the internet is a waste of time. Nothing constructive about it. "Define REAL AMERICAN!"---Anonymous Someone who doesn't leave their comments anonymously. |
