Front Page of the Day is a daily review of the news on the front page of one Chinese newspaper. Today's page comes from the paper's website. New Culture View August 30, 2007 The top headline announces that the Chinese gross domestic product increased 11.5% in the first half of the year. This information comes from a report presented by Ma Kai, director of the National Development and Reform Commission, to a People's Congress conference on August 29. The NDRC figures also show that government revenue increased 728 billion yuan over the first seven months of the year. The front page photo shows the three beautiful spokeswomen of the 3rd Northeast Asia Expo, which will be held from August 30 to September 1 in Changchun. In other headlines: the paper has an interview with Yang Fujia, the first Chinese dean of Nottingham University, and basketball star Yi Jianlian has finally signed a contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.
