Front Page of the Day

Wind power and foreign tourism

Front Page of the Day is a daily review of the news on the front page of one Chinese newspaper, selected from a newsstand in Beijing's central business district.

Beijing Morning Post, July 23, 2007
Beijing's first wind power generating plant - the Beijing Guanting Wind Power Station - has moved into its final stage of construction and will be finished by the end of the year. At full capacity, it will power about 100,000 households. Beijing Morning Post's front page picture shows workers installing the blades.

Beijing Youth Daily also featured a windmill photo below the fold on its front page. Its report ran under a negative headline: "Wind too strong, blade installation halted."

The headline below the cover photo says that overseas tourism for the summer is 90% sold out, according to some travel agencies. Tours to Europe are most popular.
