The Beijing Times, October 6, 2010

The Founding of the Party, the prequel to The Founding of the Republic, has started shooting. The "Big Shots" that the headline refers to, who the papers say have 'stepped out,' include Zhao Benshan (赵本山), the xiaopin performer and Feng Gong (冯巩), the xiangsheng performer. They are both regular guests on the Spring Festival Gala.

The paper also revealed that Zhao will play Duan Qirui, warlord, and Chow Yun-fat (周润发) will play the first President of the Republic of China, Yuan Shikai. Xiao Shenyang's role, however, has not been disclosed.

The top headline nods to the meeting between Wen Jiabao and Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan. The sub headline states that China will apply for renewed ownership over the Diaoyu Islands.
