Chinese hackers attack McDonald's website

Yesterday's Beijing News reports that hackers apparently defaced McDonald's corporate website on Christmas because it had both Taiwan and Hong Kong listed alongside other nations in a "Country" pull-down menu.

Under a red heading reading (in English), "Chinese Hacker" was the Chinese text: "We oppose the McDonald's management listing Taiwan as a country. Taiwan is an inseparable part of China. Any attempt to separate Taiwan from China and any wild ideas of blocking the cross-straits unification are bound to be demolished!! We have only one China!!!"

McDonalds management, while cleaning up the defacement, has apparently changed their terminology to "Country/Market". Compare the current site with the site from February on the Internet Archive here.

UPDATE: The China Daily has an article about the hack together with a screen shot ofn the hacked site here.
