One month boycott of Japanese goodsPosted by Jeremy Goldkorn, April 11, 2005 7:12 PM
SMS and email messages are doing the rounds in China today calling for a boycott of Japanese goods from May 1 to June 1. Chinese blogger Mo ding fang zhong ('serve the interests of others at great expense') has reproduced the full text of the email (in Chinese), along with comments to the effect that it can't be that hard to not buy Japanese goods for a month, as long you don't buy a camera. In the meantime, Japanese corporations Sony, Panasonic and NEC told Interfax that they expect no major impact on sales from the recent tide of anti-Japanese sentiment. |
