Wikipedia unblocked, but is Nanny throttling Youtube uploads?Posted by Jeremy Goldkorn, October 12, 2006 6:16 PM
Wikipedia's English version seems to have been unblocked by China's Internet Nanny. But Youtube's upload function seems to be throttled, as of this morning in Beijing. Readers in China: can you upload to Youtube? For the latest status of Youtube, please see the Net Nanny Follies category. |

Quite a pleasure for me to found that Wikipedia is unblocked. You can search it with words like "democracy" without problem. But still if you try "falungong"…… well……you met the GFW again.
Since no registered on youtube,I'm unable to find whether it is blocked. But at least the page is accessible.
jeremy I was having problems ul/dl on youtube this week at times. I am still in KL, so it may not be the nanny....
As of about 1:00 this afternoon, Wikipedia seems to be blocked again in Beijing.
False alarm, as it turns out. Perhaps it was just that particular sub-net.
How does one circumvent all this? I mean, this is Youtube we are talking about you know.
