Gays.com is a new-generation social networking website designed for members of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community. Incorporating cutting-edge social networking features, Gays.com is the world's first GLBT social networking website that is designed for real people with real names and actual relationships. Headquartered in Hong Kong, Gays.com Ltd now has ONE position open for a Community Manager to join its young, fun, innovative and diverse team in Shanghai that aims no less than to propel Gays.com into the number one GLBT social network in the next few years.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and adventurous "socialmediaholic", good at getting things done, is able to multitask and is familiar with the latest trends in social networking and dating websites.

What you'll be doing:

  • Actively moderate the community, providing guidance and support when necessary
  • Stimulate member participation with original daily blog posts
  • Create and coordinate the creation of documentation (e.g. FAQ) and tutorials that help members get the most out of the community
  • Reach out to influential sites, blogs, creatives and small businesses and share the love
  • Identify and develop relationships with key community members in order to encourage their further involvement and reward them for their participation
  • Mine member-submitted content for valuable feedback and suggestions, relay that information to the respective Product Owner
  • Optimize the community (landing pages, sign up etc.) to turn visitors into members
  • Work together with the respective Product Owner and find ways to improve the community

Requirements:

  • A great personality and an extroverted character who likes engaging people around him/her
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS (JavaScript and Flash a plus)
  • Ability to multitask and an eye for detail
  • Track record of participating in and moderating online communities, mailing lists or message boards
  • Passion and understanding of the social media space and online communities: Twitter, DIGG, Stumbleupon, Reddit etc are not foreign to you
  • Active social networking site user
  • Background in project management, journalism, computer science or similar would be preferred
  • Customer service experience is a plus
  • Native English / German / French / Spanish speaker
