Media business

New media old media deals, but not yet in China

From The Spectator:
Rupert Murdoch's Cool New Thing
, in which the writer argues that Murdoch is using his recent acquisition of Myspace.com in exactly the right way to make money and benefit his old media businesses.

From Xinhua: NBC teams up with YouTube, which discusses a deal between Youtube and NBC to make NBC programming available on Youtube.

Two questions: Is China's Youtube equivalent Toodou, whose technology seems to be at least as good as Youtube's, going to be able to do a similar deal with a Chinese broadcaster? And will any of China's traditional media companies have the cojones to buy MOP, the closest equivalent to Myspace in China? Or is the Internet / old media divide in China even greater than in the West?
