PLA Pictorial

Published since February 1951, this is the oldest military magazine in China.

As the name implies, it is chock full of pictures of the People's Liberation Army. The agency has some 300,000 photo negatives in its archive, including 28,000 from before the revolution.

In 1999, GAPP named the PLA Pictorial as one of the country's 100 key humanities periodicals. The magazine is also involved in book publishing through its Great Wall Publishing House subsidiary, which is one of eight presses authorized to issue photobooks of national and party leaders.
