Net Nanny Follies

Net Nanny took her meds (or didn't)

Earlier this week, a number of foreign-hosted websites blocked by the Great FireWall China's Internet censorship machine known became accessible, including Hootsuite, VOA, Vimeo and a number of porn sites. On the other hand, the link shortening Twitter photo service Img.ly which used to be accessible was blocked.

Why? Who knows? The Great FireWall, which we used to call the Net Nanny on Danwei, has always worked in mysterious ways.

Danwei.org remains blocked, but if you don't have a VPN and live in China, do check out Danwei's Vimeo channel.
