A China Eastern plane crashed yesterday shortly after it took off from an airport in Baotuo, Inner Mongolia, killing 54. The plane was a small CRJ-200 aircraft supplied by Canadian-based Bombardier Aerospace. After the accident, China Eastern Airlines stopped using all these type of planes. Another round of safety inspections of Chinese airlines has also started because of the crash. The pictured front page is from Beijing Daily Messenger and shows police searching the wreckage of the plane in a lake near Baotuo yesterday. The top headline is "Falungong interferes with BTV signal". |
