Liu Xingyan, 20, Beijing Babe The Beijing News (新京报) has always tried to be a serious newspaper, even though many of the editors who actually dared to be serious all got sacked at the end of 2005. Nonetheless, one feature of the paper that has been seriously uninterrupted is the Beijing Babes (北京宝贝) column, which started in November 2003. Last week, The Beijing News published an entire supplement of Beijing Babes — a beauty competition in which all the contestants wear clothing made from copies of The Beijing News.

Comments on Beijing babes wrapped in newspapersThe Beijing News also sticks a "Page 3 Girl" in its Monday sports section (it's not always a girl, though: this week featured a topless David Beckham, and earlier this months we were treated to Mary-Kate and Ashley). It's not alone among Beijing papers in its attention to the latest developments in the babe sector. The Mirror has devoted its eye-candy page to models imitating the poses of Olympic athletes. |
