Fu Tieshan, the bishop of the Beijing diocese of China's Catholic Church, died on Friday evening. Xinhua's one sentence bulletin, released early this morning, lists a number of different titles that Fu held. In order:

  • Noted social activist
  • Close friend of the Chinese Communist Party
  • Vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress
  • Vice-director of the China Association for International Exchange
  • Chairman of the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association
  • Acting chairman of the Bishops' Conference of the Catholic Church in China
  • Bishop of the Beijing diocese
