Designed by French architect Paul Andreu, the egg-like structure provides a pleasant contrast to the Sino-socialist kitsch and neo-classical straight lines of the Great Hall of the People.

Sentimental foreigners and Chinese alike have been complaining that the building will ruin Beijing's feng shui. Oh, puh-lease.
